Canadian Bacon vs. American Bacon

So, I’ve always wanted to know- “What’s the difference between Canadian Bacon and American Bacon? Why is it different? Why do we call it “Canadian” when it is soft and resembles a small, square-like piece of ham, and just “bacon” when it is cut in strips and crunchy? This website  partially sheds some like on this meaty issue. For a complete and more exhaustive study on the orgins and terminology of bacon, visit this site.

I hope this cleared some things up for you- it did for me!

John Deere Mania

A few weeks ago I was buying some material to make a blanket for my recently hospitilized mother-in-law, when a 20-something and her mother were elatedly picking out patterns for her new bedroom design. I was facing the seamstress when suddenly, I heard them shout rejoicedly, “This is it!!” They giggled delicately as only mother’s and daughter’s can do, so I turned around with the expectation that I would see some beautiful floral pattern, or a trendy plaid, or something, anything that I too could rejoice with them over. But no, to my dismay, when I turned around, they had fleece!, cotton!, and sheers!, all with the John Deere logo plastered all over it.

This entry is a little untraditional for me, since I am normally posting information I find useful, that I can pass along to others. But I want to use this pen and ink, metaphorically speaking, to throw a question into the cosmic void of the World Wide Web; a question which burns within the hearts of anyone who was not born on a farm: WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH JOHN DEERE?!?! I mean, I am sure he makes great tractors, but really the endless conversations at every farmers Christmas dinner, the constant chatter in the grocery line, the sheets, the blankets, the curtains, the apparel…all of us city folk shout with one longing voice: WHY?

Here’s some background info that may be helpful to you, the reader, to understand where I am coming from. I moved to rural KY from  the city of Orange, Ca, yes, the “OC”.  (Don’t ask me why, that’s a completely different blog entry). I have also been to many major cities, and I have never seen anyone sporting a tractor supply logo. So when I moved to KY and saw it EVERYWHERE, I had to ask myself, “What are us city people missing out on?”( if anything). Why is John Deere so near and deere to everyone’s heart? What inspires 20-year-old girls who have never even owned a tractor, to decorate their whole room with him? Why is Johnny D. the topic of so much conversation, even between mom’s and bank tellers, teachers and elderly ladies?

I can understand why farmers and men who own John Deere’s would have a need to discuss him, but why the craze among the masses? Everywhere go I see his name, this new American sweetheart with no face, just a logo, and a line of farming supplies. Please, on behalf of all the ignorant city folk out there, why the John Deere Mania?

All Natural Way to Darken Your Hair

Have you been looking for a non-chemical, no process way to darken your hair. Whether you have dark brown or blonde, I have seen this work many times without the nasty “green tint” effect. The secret is: coffee. My friends have done it and I have seen great results. If you do a google search using the terms: “darken my hair using coffee”, a lot of great pros and cons to come up. Here is how I have heard it done:

Brew a strong pot of coffee. While it is still warm, pour it into a large bowl, and lay backwards with you hair in the bowl. Have someone continuously poor the coffee from the bowl over the top of your head where the hair is not completely saturated. Soak for a half an hour in the bowl. (This can be straining on the neck) Rinse and condition, but do not shampoo this first time. You should have a noticeably darker tint in your hair. Hope this helps!

Why Martha Stewart Went to Jail

Ok, this topic may seem so “yesterday” to some, and elementary to others, but I for one just found out why Martha Stewart went to Jail. Of course, this information is futile in eternal life matters, but I believe it is important to educate yourself as best as possible in order to be able to have meaningful conversations about current and past events. It was explained to me by the former president of a multi-million dollar corporation, Tom B. This guy knows stocks. Ok, let’s begin with the obvious: we all know it had something to do with stocks. Basically, Ms. Stewart owned stocks in a company. She was recieving “insider information” from that company. Because of the secret info she was recieving, she knew when to buy and when to sell to make the most money. That is an unfair and illegal practice called insider trading (see link on insider information). It is unfair because the rest of the investors have to play the stock market, and hope they make the right decision. But with the info only she was recieving, she knew for sure when to make certain moves. So, in laymens terms, that is why Martha Stewart went to jail. For a deeper explaination, check out this article.

God’s Health Plan

This is amazing. I would have never thought of it myself. I hope this is useful!

God’s Health Plan

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye… and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnutshelp develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don’t have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female – they look just like these organs. Today’s research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (mo dern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries

Oranges, Grapefruit, and other citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like the body’s cells. Today’s research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

Never Mix Bleach with Ammonia

You know, I never tried it, but the danger was, I wouldn’t have known NOT to try it. I wouldv’e thought to myself, “Why not mix “Clorox” bleach with “Windex” ammonia? It will be a super cleaner, right?” I like to keep things clean, and if a stubborn stain came up on my linoleum, I might have given it a go. My husband told me one day, almost out of the blue, “Ashley, never mix ammonia with bleach”. I was like, “Uhm, ok, thanks”. Than he said, “Do you know why?” He went on to explain what that it is basically like inhaling mustard gas from WW2. It is hazardous, and can be fatal Click here for in depth information on this subject
